Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant in Gateshead to support students with diverse learning needs. The role leverages sports coaching experience to enhance focus, teamwork, and physical coordination, while collaborating with teachers on IEPs and progress tracking.

The position is temporary (potential permanent) with school-day hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. An enhanced DBS check and appropriate qualifications are required; full training and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a sports coach or in a sports-related role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage children.
• Enhanced DBS check on the update service.

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, adapting teaching methods as needed.

Teaching Personnel are seeking a passionate, compassionate, and energetic individual to join the team as a Teaching Assistant. Your experience in coaching and motivating young people will be invaluable in supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, adapting teaching methods as needed.
• Foster positive relationships, encourage motivation, and build self-confidence in students.
• Use sports coaching techniques to support focus, teamwork, and physical coordination among students.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and track student progress.
• Assist in behavior management by employing strategies from your sports coaching experience, creating a calm and focused learning atmosphere.
• Support students in developing resilience, patience, and perseverance through structured activities and learning exercises.

• Communication Skills: As a coach, you're used to giving clear instructions and feedback. These skills will be crucial when working with students who may need extra guidance and encouragement.
• Adaptability: Experience adapting training to meet various skill levels in sports is easily transferable to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Behavior Management: Your experience in maintaining discipline and focus on the field will help you create a positive, respectful learning environment in the classroom.
• Teamwork: Just like on the field, teamwork in the classroom is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
