Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting Sports Coaches / Teaching Assistants to work within schools across Chelmsford and the surrounding areas. This role leverages coaching skills to support pupils with education, behaviour and personal development in a classroom and PE setting.

Ideal candidates have a background in sports coaching, PE, youth work or mentoring, with energy, confidence and strong communication. Roles offer flexible full-time and part-time opportunities with DBS and safeguarding

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within the classroom on a 1:1 and small-group basis.

• Support pupils who may struggle with engagement or behaviour.
• Act as a positive role model and mentor for pupils.
• Help pupils develop resilience, discipline and communication skills.
• Supervise pupils during break times, activities and sports sessions.

TeacherActive is currently recruiting Sports Coaches / Teaching Assistants to work within schools across Chelmsford and the surrounding areas.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a background in sports coaching, physical education, youth work or mentoring who are passionate about supporting children and young people both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

As a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant, you will use your coaching and relationship‑building skills to support pupils with their education, behaviour and personal development.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils within the classroom on a 1:1 and small-group basis
• Assisting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
• Delivering and supporting PE, sports and physical activities
• Using sport to encourage teamwork, confidence and positive behaviour
• Supporting pupils who may struggle with engagement or behaviour
• Acting as a positive role model and mentor for pupils
• Helping pupils develop resilience, discipline and communication skills
• Supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs where required
• Supervising pupils during break times, activities and sports sessions
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment

The Ideal Candidate

Previous classroom experience is desirable but not essential. Sports coaches looking to gain experience within education are strongly encouraged to apply.
