Applebough Education is working with several Secondary Schools in the Coventry area who are seeking energetic, reliable, and confident Sports Coaches to support PE departments and cover lessons across a range of year groups.

This is an excellent opportunity for sports professionals, coaching specialists, or graduates looking to gain school-based experience—perfect for those considering a future in teaching or education.

The Role

As a Sports Coach working in Secondary Schools, you will :

Deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions

Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the PE teacher

Support students in developing their fitness, teamwork, and confidence

Maintain good behaviour management and ensure a safe, positive learning environment

Adapt sessions for mixed abilities and promote full participation

Work across various schools depending on demand, offering great flexibility

We’re Looking For

Experienced Sports Coaches, PE Assistants, or individuals with coaching qualifications

Confident leaders who can engage and motivate students

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

A positive, energetic, and professional approach

Flexibility to work in different school environments

Experience working with young people (school, club, or community settings)

Qualifications that are ideal (but not essential) :

Level 2 or above Coaching Qualification

Sports Degree or relevant subject area

First Aid or safeguarding training

Experience delivering sessions to secondary-aged pupils
