A leading educational institution in Scotland seeks a motivated individual to assist in delivering an extensive sporting programme for a diverse community. Responsibilities include ensuring Sports Centre facilities meet high standards, conducting fitness inductions, and maintaining equipment records. Candidates should possess a fitness qualification (level 2 or equivalent) and strong customer service skills. A flexible approach to working hours is essential, particularly during University term time.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, qualified and experienced individual to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive sporting programme for students, staff and the local community in order to help maximise the use of sports resources at the University.
With a focus on excellent customer service, your role will be to ensure all Sports Centre facilities are fit for purpose, setting up equipment as required and ensuring all areas are clean, tidy and ready for use. You will undertake fitness inductions and give basic advice on safe technique and training programmes, ensuring that gym users behave in an appropriate and safe manner in line with Normal Operating Procedures. You will use our leisure management system on a daily basis and ensure that equipment maintenance records are up to date and accurate, reporting any issues to the Facilities & Operations Manager. You will have responsibility for supervising casual staff and will be expected to deputise for the Facilities & Operations Manager when required. You will have responsibility for ensuring that the building is ready for opening and is closed down properly each night in accordance with our Normal Operating Procedures.
You will hold a REPS accredited level 2 fitness qualification (or equivalent) and have knowledge of a broad range of sports and their requirements. You should also have experience of working with young adults and children and assisting with sports events. Please note that we will consider applicants who do not currently hold a level 2 fitness qualification but who would be willing to make a commitment to gaining the qualification within the first 6 months of their employment.
You must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to develop good working relationships with people at all levels, and good organisational and time management skills. It will be necessary for the post holder to work on a rotating shift pattern including weekends, evenings and public holidays as required. A flexible approach to working hours is required, particularly during University term time.
