Spinal Surgery Operational Delivery Network Clinical Lead

This role is part of the South East Neurosciences and Trauma Strategic Network. The Spinal Surgery Operational Delivery Network (ODN) brings together three geographic networks into one. The Clinical Lead will facilitate cross‑specialty, cross‑Trust, and cross‑ICB collaboration within the field of Spinal Surgery.

Main duties of the role
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership across the ODN.
  • Lead strategic and operational development of a coherent, effective network as part of a multi‑disciplinary leadership team.
  • Deliver a programme of work addressing national and local priorities.
  • Promote and support partnership working, facilitating the resolution of differences and tackling poor behaviour.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Training & Experience
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Appropriate knowledge base and specialist training in relevant area
  • Experience working within the specialty at a senior level
  • Experience working across organisational boundaries in the Health Service achieving collective success and demonstrates listening, respect and learning from the contribution for others.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in formal clinical networks within the NHS
  • Clinical governance and risk management concepts and techniques
  • Senior leadership experience in the NHS at Trust level e.g. departmental or divisional lead clinician or GP principal if pathways extend to primary care
  • Knowledge of service improvement tools and techniques
  • Understanding of commissioning and contracting function and processes
Aptitudes and skills
  • Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi‑professional teams
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to build & motivate high performing teams
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills including listening skills (verbal and written communication skills in English).
