Job summary

A healthcare provider in West Malling is looking for a dynamic Speech & Language Therapist to support adults with ASD. We are looking for a dynamic, focussed, and self-motivated Speech & Language Therapist who is passionate about supporting adults with ASD and complex comorbidities. The ideal candidate will work effectively alone, and in a team, demonstrating excellent organisational skills, and using their initiative in a fast-paced, working environment. The candidate will have a strong desire to improve clients communication within this at-risk population, who live inthe community, in residential housing and on the streets. This is an opportunity in an unique and specialist setting, where a SaLT can make a significant impact on peoples quality of life

Main duties of the job

To carry out communication formal and informal assessments for allocated clients and services.

To design and deliver therapeutic interventions for allocated clients and services.

To provide communication training, reports and produce projects in a timely manner.

To contribute to the efficient running of the service, through completing administrative tasks related to clinical activities.

Job responsibilities

Job Description

  • Participate in meetings to discuss the needs of allocated clients or service, and prioritise time accordingly.
  • Complete appropriate assessments to inform treatment goals, and plan intervention.
  • Provide individually tailored programmes to meet the needs of the allocated clients.
  • Create engaging activities to improve communication skills of clients.
  • Plan and execute sessions, both 1:1, and with small groups of adults, to develop language, communication and social skills.
  • Provide written reports in a timely manner and/or contribute to MDT reports.
  • Attend annual reviews/other review meetings as required.
  • Ensure timely follow ups are arranged with client to ensure continuity of care for each client.
  • Update the clients patient records after each appointment or activity related to them.
  • Carry out, as and when required, any additional tasks and responsibilities as are reasonably compatible with this job description and its objectives.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT)
  • Registered member of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Skills
  • Evidence-based, reflective practice and clinical reasoning skills in assessment and treatment.
  • Effective communicator with clients, professionals, and staff members.
  • Ability and skills to organise and manage workload.
Experience
  • Significant clinical experience as a registered SLT.
  • Evidence of in-depth experience in the relevant specialist clinical area.
  • Experience in communication assessments and interventions.
  • Experience in autism assessments and interventions.
  • Experience of working with adults within mental health services.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working.
