Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. You will work autonomously to assess, diagnose and provide timely intervention for communication and swallowing problems within the Acute SLT team.

Based at Queen Alexandra Hospital, you will flexibly cover across clinical areas as needed, collaborate with MDT colleagues, supervise students where appropriate, and

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and provide timely intervention and management of communication and swallowing problems as part of the Acute SLT team.
• Flexible in providing cover to clinical areas across PHUT depending on skill and service need.
• Collaborate and liaise with MDT colleagues to provide coordinated care to patients.
• Provide clinical support to other colleagues, including students where appropriate.
• Complete competencies in line with RCSLT guidance.
• Contribute to patient information, manage priorities, organise equipment/resources and liaise with community SLTs about continuing care following discharge.
• Contribute to prioritisation and triage of referrals to ensure priority, high risk patients are seen urgently.
• Be flexible in providing cover across inpatient settings where most needed, as directed by clinical leads.
• Contribute to administrative processes that ensure the most efficient service delivery for patients.
