Job summary

A leading education recruitment agency in York is seeking a highly motivated Speech, Language and Communication Needs Teaching Assistant. The role involves supporting students with speech and language difficulties in a Secondary School environment. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience working with children. This is a full-time role with a salary of £90 - £110 per day. Immediate start is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
• Ability to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
• Must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
• Work with children on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Help implement individualized therapy plans with the speech and language therapist.
• Monitor and document student progress.
• Provide a safe environment for students to practice communication skills.

Skills

Experience with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH

Education

Bachelor's degree in speech and language pathology or related field
