A leading education services provider in Chelmsford, Essex is seeking a motivated Speech, Language and Communication Needs Teaching Assistant to start in January 2026. This long-term role will involve assisting students with speech and language difficulties, implementing individualised therapy plans, and supporting the overall classroom environment. Education and training: £88 - £100 per day; January 2026 start; Primary Education; Staff car park available; Long‑term contract with view of a permanent contract for the suitable candidate.

If so, Academics are seeking a highly motivated Speech, Language and Communication Needs Teaching Assistant to join the inclusive primary school located in Chelmsford, Essex. This role is to start in January 2026.

Requirements:
  • Experience and knowledge of social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
  • Bachelor's degree in speech and language pathology, communication disorders, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties (previous experience in an educational setting is highly desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Work with children on a 1:1 and small group basis to help overcome their barriers to learning.
  • Assist the speech and language therapist in implementing individualised therapy plans.
  • Conduct one‑on‑one or small group sessions with students to practice speech and language skills.
  • Monitor and document student progress and adjust therapy techniques accordingly.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop strategies for incorporating speech and language goals into the classroom and home environments.
  • Support students during classroom activities, ensuring their participation and comprehension.
