Overview
A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Speech and Language Therapy Service Manager will be a key member of the Care Group F's Senior Leadership Team, accountable for performance, finance, quality, safety, risk and patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Therapies senior leadership team and provide comprehensive professional leadership to the Speech and Language Therapy profession across the Care Group and Trust.
- Function at a senior level, proactively solving complex operational issues within agreed objectives, targets and resource constraints.
- Implement patient‑centred clinical operational strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance and collaboration with external bodies such as commissioners.
- Promote Speech and Language Therapy services and integrate local and national initiatives (e.g., NICE Guidelines) into practice.
- Write and review profession‑specific policies, guidelines and Standards of Practice; ensure annual updates of operational policy and SOPs.
- Ensure departmental policies and procedures are reviewed and updated annually, and that patient leaflets are managed through the Patient Information Forum.
- Maintain compliance with Trust and departmental policies, including Health and Safety legislation and incident reporting.
- Operate operationally within financial, staffing and resource parameters, focusing on service‑led delivery.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate Speech and Language Therapy services in line with the Trust Strategy.
- Lead workforce review and programme to meet patient needs and resource availability.
- Support the Chief of Division and Divisional Operations Director in aligning the Service with Division business objectives.
- Collaborate with other Therapy Services Managers to develop a coordinated therapy provision model.
- Develop profession‑specific business cases, SLAs and contracts for services provided within and outside the Trust.
- Contribute to Trust‑wide business cases involving Speech and Language Therapy input.
- Collect, collate and analyse data for operational management and strategic planning.
- Represent the service at Trust meetings, local CCG meetings and other relevant external meetings.
