Role Description

The post is supported by a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist and an Speech and Language Therapist Assistant . You will be an integral part of our Speech and Language Therapy Team with the aim of promoting communication for all. Additionally experience in dysphagia would be advantageous. Audit and governance along with patient safety are key deliverables in the service and we welcome fresh ideas and approaches.

Role Responsibilities

  • Specialist/ complex case load which could include – Dysphagia management and training.
  • To provide assessments, diagnostic and appropriate advice for all LSHG Service users those are referred.
  • To help plan and monitor individual and group treatment as appropriate.
  • To be part of LSHG multi-disciplinary team, liaising, co-ordinating and planning work with other professionals in specific units.
  • To encourage good liaison with other agencies promoting positive good practice.
  • To contribute advice to families as necessary.
  • To attend MDT’s, staff meetings, CPD’s and in-service training as required.
  • To follow current administrative and statistical procedures as required by LSHG.
  • To keep clinical notes as per professional guidance and standards and to present information to MDT’s.
  • To keep up to date with new techniques and research for the maintenance and promotion of good practice and to record same on the Professional Log of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • To be conversant with communicating quality guidelines and ensure agreed care standards are adhered to.
  • To ensure statistical information and client records are updated
  • To participate in quality assurance and clinical audits as necessary
