Are you a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for service development and leadership? Do you thrive in multi-disciplinary environments and want to make a real impact on the lives of children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)?

We have positions in both Scarborough (full time) and Selby (part time)

About the service

What makes our service different is the mix of settings, the flexibility in how we work, and the expectation that our team can use their expertise creatively. We are focused on what will make the biggest difference for the child or young person in front of us — and we’re looking for a manager who can help maintain that clarity while supporting the team to grow and develop.

We’re looking for Speech and Language Therapy Managers who want to make a real difference across North Yorkshire. Our service is growing and changing as part of the wider SEND reforms, and we’re building something that feels practical, responsive, and firmly centred on the needs of children and young people.

We work across a wide range of settings and pathways, and our remit is deliberately broad so that children and young people can access the right support at the right time. As a manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring this breadth of work is delivered consistently and with a clear sense of purpose across North Yorkshire.

You’ll find our team working in:

  • Targeted mainstream provisions, where we support schools to meet needs early and effectively
  • Personalised learning colleges, helping young people with learning and communication differences access meaningful education and preparation for adulthood
  • No Wrong Door, where communication needs often sit alongside trauma, care experience, and social‑emotional support needs
  • Youth Justice Services, supporting young people whose communication needs are often hidden but have a significant impact
  • Statutory work, contributing to EHCPs where provision sits above and beyond the NHS offer
About the role

Joining an established management team of three experienced managers, with each leading on a specialist area, you will work closely alongside them, benefiting from strong peer support, shared problem‑solving, and a collaborative approach to leading the service.

You’ll lead a friendly, skilled team of therapists while working closely alongside specialist teachers and educational psychologists to support families, schools, early years settings, social care teams and health partners. This is a role with real breadth encompassing day‑to‑day leadership alongside longer‑term service development as we continue to evolve in line with SEND reforms.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Provide clear, supportive leadership across mainstream, specialist, and alternative settings
  • Oversee delivery across targeted provisions, personalised learning colleges, No Wrong Door, Youth Justice and statutory pathways
  • Strengthen embedded communication‑friendly practice across educational settings, working closely with SENCOs, headteachers and wider SEND colleagues
  • Build strong relationships with schools, colleges, social care teams and health partners, becoming a key link for your area
  • Support the team to contribute to statutory assessments and shape provision for children with more complex needs
  • Support the development of the No Wrong Door and Youth Justice service offers
  • Play an active role in shaping how the service develops — your leadership will influence how we work going forward

We’re looking for a manager who is adaptable, reflective, and confident leading a service that is growing and changing. If you enjoy variety, value collaboration, and want to lead a team where the work has a real‑world impact, this could be a great fit.
