Job summary

A leading healthcare service in Greater London is seeking a Band 5 therapist to join the Biborough SLT education team for a 3-month fixed-term contract. Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice required.
  • Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT is mandatory.
  • Experience working with children in clinics or school settings is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritise own caseload independently.
  • Assess and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment for children.
  • Deliver Therapy provision as specified in Education Health and Care Plans.

Biborough SLT Education Team - Westminster, and Kensington & Chelsea

Are you looking to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people? Come and join the CLCH SLT education team!

We have the opportunity for an NQP or experienced Band 5 therapist to join the Biborough SLT education team fixed term, for 3 months. The post includes working with a varied caseload across schools in the inner London boroughs of Westminster, and Kensington & Chelsea.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, and an interest and experience of working with school-aged children and young people.

Main duties of the job
  • To manage and prioritise own caseload independently, generating appropriate strategies for caseload management.
  • To assess the need for, develop, and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred within locality, and provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties as required within the role.
  • To assess children's language and communication needs, and provide professional advice to contribute to statutory assessments (Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments) and the annual review process for individual children in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • To deliver Speech and Language Therapy provision to children as specified in Education Health and Care Plans in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • To analyse auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of children's communication, and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness in relevant setting.

  • Knowledge of appropriate range of assessments and interventions for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits to individual children
  • Awareness of national policies and procedures (relevant to school aged children) including education practice and policy
