Speech and Language Therapist - Autism/ADHD Assessor

At Evolve Psychology Services, we empower our clinicians with the tools and support they need to focus on delivering exceptional care to children, young people, and their families. You will join a passionate, multidisciplinary team specialising in high-quality, evidence-based autism and ADHD assessments, through both NHS-funded and private pathways. This role will be within our Huddersfield Team and is a hybrid position with part-time and full-time options, requiring a minimum of three days a week. As a Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner, you will contribute to comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments, helping to ensure timely and accurate diagnoses that lead to appropriate support and improved outcomes for families.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will contribute to high-quality, evidence-based neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people. Duties include conducting structured observations via digital platforms, carrying out remote developmental history interviews with parents and carers, and actively participating in multidisciplinary team diagnostic discussions, with support from senior clinicians where required. You will deliver clear, compassionate feedback to families, ensuring that outcomes and next steps are communicated sensitively and effectively. The role also involves producing accurate and detailed clinical reports, including diagnostic formulations, with the support of our smart tools to improve efficiency and consistency. You will be expected to work effectively to meet service KPIs, ensuring timely assessments and reports that contribute to positive outcomes for families.

Job responsibilities

You will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to high-quality, evidence-based assessments for autism and ADHD, delivered through both NHS-funded referrals and private pathways. As a Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner, you will contribute to comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments, helping ensure timely, accurate diagnoses that lead to appropriate support and improved outcomes for families.

You will be responsible for:

• Conducting face-to-face structured observations as part of the neurodevelopmental assessment process.
• Conducting remote developmental history interviews with parents and carers via Zoom
• Participating collaboratively in peer MDT diagnostic discussions, supported by senior clinicians where needed
• Delivering clear, compassionate feedback to families
• Producing accurate clinical reports, including diagnostic formulations, with the help of our AI-assisted tools
• Working efficiently to meet service KPIs
• Delivering clinical supervision (where applicable)
• Able to travel to a clinic base to conduct in-person assessments (hybrid only)

Qualifications and experience

• Minimum of 1 year professional registration with one of the following regulatory bodies: HCPC, NMC, GMC or Social Work England.
• Eligible roles include HCPC Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist; NMC Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, General Nurse, Children's Nurse; GMC Medical Practitioner; Social Worker (Social Work England).
• Minimum of 1 year experience conducting diagnostic assessments for autism and/or ADHD in children and young people.
• Strong understanding of differential diagnosis in neurodevelopmental presentations.
• In-depth knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for autism and ADHD.
• Trained and experienced in diagnostic tools such as ADOS-2, ADI-R, etc.
• Effective time management and caseload organisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and meet clinical deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and participate in collaborative diagnostic discussions.
• Highly developed written language skills used to produce high-quality clinical reports.
• Well-developed communication skills with children, young people, and their families, ensuring compassionate, clear, and professional interactions throughout the assessment process.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Salary will be based on experience; range £30,000 to £55,000.
