Vacancy: Speech and Language Therapist

A Vacancy at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic speech and language therapist to work with people in a person-centred way.

You will be based in a community learning disability team with colleagues from physiotherapy, clinical psychology, community nursing, occupational therapy and social workers. This role is based in our Cheetham Hill office, although we also have teams in Hulme and Wythenshawe.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy input to people with learning disabilities and associated problems (e.g., sensory impairments, mental health problems, and physical disabilities) in homes, colleges, local communities, day centres, and workplaces.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams that include physiotherapy, clinical psychology, community nursing, occupational therapy, social work, audiology, orthoptics, community nutrition, and dentistry.
  • Work with agencies such as Adult and Children’s Social Care, Greater Manchester Police, Pure Innovations, carer forums, and other services within the Manchester Local Care Organisation.
  • Have access to specialist IT programmes for communication support, e.g., Boardmaker, Grid 3.
  • Further develop clinical skills in areas such as AAC, dysphagia management, complex health needs, autism, risky behaviours, and mental health through supervision, meetings, projects, and courses.
