Main Responsibilities
  • Assess the speech, language and communication needs of pupils across the school (5–19 years).
  • Plan, deliver and review evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with ASD, including 1:1, small group and class‑based work.
  • Support functional communication, including the use of AAC, visuals, PECS, communication books and/or high‑tech devices as appropriate.

  • Provide training, coaching and modelling for school staff to build confidence and consistency in communication support.
  • Monitor progress and adapt programmes in response to pupil needs and outcomes.
About You
  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally including those with ASD and/or special educational needs.
  • Good understanding of ASD and its impact on communication, learning and behaviour.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
