Job summary

HCRG Care Group is recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist for Chippenham Community Hospital. The role is part-time (22.5 hours per week) with AfC Band 5 salary and NHS Pension.

You will work with adults to improve communication and swallowing, in a supportive team, delivering person-centred care and collaborating with other professionals. The post requires HCPC registration, RCSLT membership, and a commitment to continuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)
• HCPC registration and eligibility to practise as a Speech and Language Therapist
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) with CPD commitment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and empathy with patients and families

Key Responsibilities

• Support adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders to maximise their independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
• Assess, prioritise and manage a diverse caseload, responding appropriately to complex, sensitive and unpredictable clinical and non-clinical situations.
• Deliver person-centred interventions for individuals with communication impairments, mental health needs, degenerative conditions, terminal illnesses and other complex presentations.
• Provide clear advice, guidance and practical communication strategies to patients, carers and other professionals to help individuals achieve their communication potential.
• Communicate complex, sensitive or challenging information with professionalism, empathy and compassion.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies, contributing specialist advice and recommendations to support effective patient care.
• Build positive working relationships with healthcare professionals, carers and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and seamless service delivery.
• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).
• HCPC registration and eligibility to practise as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) with a commitment to continuing professional development.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy, support and reassurance when working with individuals with communication and/or swallowing difficulties, their families and carers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, openly and effectively with a range of audiences.
• High level of clinical assessment and diagnostic skills relevant to speech, language and swallowing disorders.
• Self-aware, professional and able to build positive working relationships.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
