Responsibilities

As a Speech and Language Therapist you will:

  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent profiles or SEMH needs.
  • Work within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working standards and maintain compliance with governing and professional bodies.
  • Hold and manage a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with full support from the clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and multidisciplinary consultation as required.
  • Collaborate closely with the education team to support pupil progress and independence.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary work in diverse settings.
  • Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
  • Interest in developing knowledge across SaLT practice areas.
  • Strong relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time‑management and organisational skills.
  • Competence in core SaLT practice areas and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and support‑plan formulation.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
  • Ability to collaborate within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group.
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Desirable
  • Understanding of how sensory, motor and other differences affect communication strengths and needs.
  • Evidence of appreciating the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
