Are you a compassionate and dedicated Speech and Language Teaching Assistant?

Do you have experience working with non-verbal pupils to help them develop alternative communication methods, confidence, and independence?

Are you passionate about helping children access the curriculum and develop essential social and communication skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment?

The Role - Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils who are non-verbal or have significant speech and language needs.

You will work closely with class teachers, the SEN team, and speech and language therapists to implement personalised strategies, support communication development, and promote engagement across the curriculum.

The Ideal Speech and Language Teaching Assistant Will Be:
  • Patient, empathetic, and nurturing
  • Experienced in supporting non-verbal pupils or those with complex communication needs
  • Confident in using alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Committed to helping every child achieve their personal best
