A regional healthcare provider in Wakefield is seeking a full-time ENT specialist to provide outpatient and inpatient services. You will perform general ENT procedures, participate in an on-call rota, and engage in mentoring junior medical staff. Benefits include NHS pension, generous holiday allowance, and support services. This post is offered on a full-time basis, comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs)9 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1 Supporting Professional Activity (SPA). Applications for less than full‑time work will also be considered. The primary base for emergency duties will be Pinderfields General Hospital (PGH), Wakefield, although the post holder will be expected to contribute to the delivery of ENT services across all three hospital sites: Pinderfields Hospitals, Pontefract General Infirmary (PGI), and Dewsbury and District Hospital (DDH).
Provide outpatient and inpatient services for general ENT, including head and neck, thyroid, and parathyroid surgery. Perform DCC duties, including clinical and administrative tasks, emergency and on‑call responsibilities, and contribute to quality improvement in line with specialty and Trust objectives. Participate in the middle‑tier ENT on‑call rota (currently 1:7), covering the acute base at Pinderfields and supporting emergency services at Dewsbury and Pontefract hospitals.
Able to operate independently with high volume and low complex cases, i.e.: tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, insertion of grommets, etc. Run independent clinics, including acute and emergency clinics, and support and teach Foundation Year 2 doctors, Core Trainees (CTs), Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners.
