Job summary

A leading NHS Trust in Manchester is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology with a focus on Medical Retina. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team, contributing to innovative leadership, service expansion, and engaging in audits and research. Candidates should hold a Medical Degree and significant experience in Ophthalmology including completion of the necessary qualifications. Expectation of a flexible, multi-site role across Greater Manchester.

Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology with Interest in Medical Retina

Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor position to join our Ophthalmology Team.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with the aim to expand the service further with innovative leadership, ideas, audit, and research projects.

It is anticipated that the successful applicant will already be a GMC registered Ophthalmologist and have passed the Part 1 FRCOphth and Refraction examination, with significant experience in Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

There is an expectation that the program will involve multi site working across Greater Manchester. The individual timetable will be matched by the Medical Retina/macular lead in conjunction with the needs of all the doctors on the rotation. However, we would expect that this post commence with EED commitments. In doing so the timetables will vary based on the department needs. There would be an expectation of undertaking acute referrals (including inpatients on different sites)/ emergency department sessions set within the doctor's program.
