Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking speciality doctors in anaesthetics to join our busy and dynamic department at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Successful candidates will be based at a primary hospital (either Conquest Hospital, St Leonards or Eastbourne District General Hospital) with the expectation of cross‑site working. On‑calls will also be based at a primary hospital. Post-holders must have at least two years’ experience in anaesthetics, with previous experience providing anaesthesia for emergency surgery beneficial. Competency in obstetric anaesthesia is desirable and critical‑care experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cross‑cover essential services with appropriate support and supervision from consultants and/or senior speciality doctor colleagues.
• Work within a single anaesthetics department covering two hospital sites, with clinical sessions allocated on both sites in the Trust and partly dictated by clinical need.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience in anaesthetics.
• Experience providing anaesthesia for emergency surgery (beneficial).
• Competency in obstetric anaesthesia (desirable).
• Critical‑care experience (required).

Weekdays: 08:00‑18:00h

On‑call: Evenings 18:00‑20:30, Weekend days 08:00‑20:30, Nights 20:00‑08:30
