We are seeking an experienced full‑time Specialty Doctor who will work at Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton and provide psychiatric care on Shaw Ward, our 17‑bed acute service for men.
You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist (Staff Grade Psychiatrist) while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a first‑class multidisciplinary team. Shaw Ward is an acute service for men and is based at Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission. The aim of Shaw Ward is to assess and treat individuals in the least restrictive environment and plan for discharge in a robust and timely fashion. With a focus on stabilisation, we support individuals to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community. Our team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge. Our approach is recovery focused and supported by a comprehensive multi‑disciplinary team, contributing to shorter lengths of stay.
