Seeking Resilient and Experienced Support Staff for Specialist Settings in Oldham

We are recruiting high‑calibre Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Mentors, and Behaviour Support Mentors to make a significant impact on students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across the Oldham area. This full‑time, 5‑day‑a‑week commitment requires experienced, dedicated professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to students, focusing on emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Implement individual behaviour plans and safety protocols effectively and consistently.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to adapt activities and resources to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor student attendance, well‑being, and progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Help maintain a calm, orderly, and supportive learning environment in the setting.
  • Show commitment to professional standards and continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate Must:
  • Possess crucial, proven expertise in behaviour management and the ability to confidently cope with complex behaviour needs.
  • Have a minimum of 6 months of UK experience.
  • Demonstrate previous experience in either:
    • 2 or more SEMH, PRU, or Alternative Provision settings.
    • Or, more than 2 years of continuous experience working in a PRU/SEMH setting.
  • Be reliable, highly committed to career development, and genuinely attentive and engaged with both students and staff.
  • Be available to work 5 days a week.
  • Ideally hold a Level 2+ UK Teaching Assistant qualification.
Essential Requirements:
  • A full UK Driving Licence and access to a car (essential for accessing local settings).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
