Job summary

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust invites an experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the East Cornwall team. The role covers 0–18 years in community settings, with clinic, home, and school visits to support children and families.

The post also includes coordinating local team activities, allocations, and space management, with opportunities to contribute to service development and professional growth. Based at Bodmin Health Centre.

Qualifications

• Clinical experience working with autism and other neurodevelopmental/neurodiverse needs in children and young people.
• Experience in leadership, coordinating teams or projects, and supporting clinical/professional development.
• Experience mentoring or supervising students/assistants in a SLT setting.

Responsibilities

Job overview

The Cornwall Children's Community Speech and Language Therapy service has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our East Cornwall Team. This is a perfect opportunity for someone either looking to relocate or step into a specialist role.

You will hold a 0- 18 years old mixed community caseload and offer support to children and their families through clinic appointments, setting visits and home visits in the East Cornwall area. The service offers both assessment and intervention, in addition to consultation and training.

You will also be the Local Area Co-Ordinator for the East Team West sub team. This involves supporting the Central Team lead with therapist allocations, answering routine enquiries and organisation of the clinical spaces. The East Team West currently covers the areas such as Bodmin, Bude, Wadebridge and Camelford.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who

• has experience working with a range of clinical needs and knowledge of the education system
• enjoys working on service development projects with their peers
• has some experience mentoring or supervising either student SaLTs or support workers

Qualification/Education

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).
• Fully signed-off the Newly Qualified Practitioner Competencies as set out by the Royal College of Speech Language Therapists.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

Experience

• Clinical experience of working with autism, other neurodevelopmental disorders, and with children and young people with complex conditions and needs
• Highly developed skills of clinical assessment, evaluation and intervention for children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Experience of working with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, with an understanding of team roles and professional roles
• Some experience of leadership –coordinating a team/project and supporting them/it clinically and professionally.
• Experience of evaluating service delivery and monitoring effectiveness and outcomes of intervention, and of undertaking clinical audit Experience of participation in audit and research projects
