Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Salary: £45-£51 / Hour
Job type: Day to Day Cover
Location: Merton

Merton is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join a well‑structured and dynamic team in a special school for children aged 4‑19. The client offers part‑time and full‑time contracts and a manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3‑6 months with potential for extension.

Main Duties
  • Assess children and develop/implement specialist speech and language therapy treatment to ensure that the Council achieves its strategic aims for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Contribute to the LB Merton policy and approach to raising achievement and establishing provision for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Provide a specialist speech and language therapy service to Merton schools and settings.
  • Work as a member of the Merton Speech and Language Therapy Service and SENDIS and contribute to building the capacity of Merton Schools to include pupils with SEN and disabilities.
  • Support pupils in a special school for children with PMLD and complex needs. (In the PMLD setting, there is no requirement to manage Dysphagia, which is managed by the NHS service).
