Job summary

NELFT is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Dysphagia and Early Years Complex Communication Team in the community, schools and clinic settings. You will assess and intervene for children with complex communication needs, including AAC, and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Dysphagia and Early Years Complex Communication Team. Main duties of the job

Speech and Language Therapists are core to the efficient service delivery that we provide to children, young people and their families. As a Speech and Language Therapist in our service, you will deliver care to children, young people and their families in the community, schools and in the clinic setting. You will be working within our well-established, supportive and dynamic Early Years Complex Communication and Dysphagia Team. You will provide assessments and interventions for children with complex communication needs, including implementing AAC. You will also work in the dysphagia team working with children from the early years up to 19 years who are special schools. You will be a member of the Joint Assessment Clinic with the multidisciplinary team, working with Paediatricians, Occupational Therapists and physiotherapists with out most complex children.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London

(B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Essential

• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
• HCPC Licence to Practice
• Show active interest in CPD in line with RCSLT guidelines
• Self-motivated and remain updated with professional practice and new research

Desirable

• Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy

Experience

Essential

• Significant relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level
• Working collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals
• Experience of working in a multi-agency and/or multi disciplinary team
• Working with clients who have a range of speech, language and communication needs
