Responsibilities

  • Assess participants' suitability for colonoscopy and support throughout the process.
  • Attend MDT meetings and work with health promotion teams.
  • Deliver nurse-led and virtual clinics in Luton and Bedfordshire.
  • Advocate for patients to aid informed choices regarding screening and treatment.
  • Manage own caseload based on assessment outcomes.
  • Communicate sensitive information to patients when necessary.

About the Role

Due to continued development and expansion of the service we are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to join this exciting and fast moving service. The main function of your role will be to assess participant's suitability for colonoscopy, inform and support them through the process, including communicating results, providing a quality service and maintaining accurate records that reflect this. You will be required to attend Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and link with health promotion teams to improve uptake and inclusivity and this role will include the delivery of nurse-led and virtual clinics, within the community of Luton and Bedfordshire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess participant suitability for colonoscopy, inform and support through the process, communicate results, maintain accurate records.
  • Attend MDTs and collaborate with health promotion teams to improve uptake and inclusivity.
  • Deliver nurse-led and virtual clinics within the community of Luton and Bedfordshire.
  • Act as the individual's advocate, supporting and empowering patients and families to make informed choices about screening examination, care, treatment and future participation.
  • Assess individuals, make decisions based on assessment outcomes and manage own caseload.
  • Participate in colorectal cancer MDT meetings within the participating Trust.
  • Communicate sensitive and bad news to individuals when required.

  • Work independently and autonomously across Bedfordshire Foundation NHS Trust with a supportive team environment.
  • Good organisational and communication skills; flexible to work 7 days a week.
  • Work well within a team and also work autonomously as an individual.
  • Excellent ability to communicate sensitive or bad news to patients.

Additional Information
