Job summary

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust's St Mary's Hospital is recruiting a Band 7 Specialist Rotational Pharmacist to join a dynamic Pharmacy Team. This full-time post offers a structured rotation across Emergency Department, Acute Assessment Unit, General Medicine, Stroke, Care of Older People, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Oncology, Haematology and Hospice care.

You will work with Consultant-led teams, contribute to prescribing decisions, and be supported to develop specialist skills and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent experience.
  • Current listing on the Pharmacist Register with the GPhC.
  • Independent prescribing.
  • Specialist training in Clinical Specialty.
  • Significant experience of working in hospital pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of national guidelines relating to medicines and pharmaceutical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on prescribing decisions.
  • Undertake rotations in Oncology/Haematology, frailty and older person care, Urgent and Emergency Services, and other clinical areas.
  • Monitor prescriptions and develop patient-centred pharmaceutical care plans.
  • Ensure seamless pharmaceutical care through accurate drug histories and discharge planning.
  • Actively contribute to medicines safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and train other pharmacy and healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in education and health promotion activities.
  • Represent pharmacy in Trust meetings.
  • Contribute to a weekday service with some weekend and on-call duties.

Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Rotational Pharmacist, you will:
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on prescribing decisions.
