About the role: Specialist Registrar, Rheumatology

The role of a Medefer Registrar is to consult with patientsremotely, obtaining more detailed information about their condition, followingtheir GP referral to Medefer. This is then reviewed by our Consultants tosupport their clinical decision-making.

You can work as many hours as you would like each week, withno minimum or maximum expectation, and you can decide the days and times youwish to work, whether that be evenings, weekends, or weekdays (providingpatient cases are available).

This is a fully remote role, and due to the nature of therole you must have a private and secure space from which to work with reliableinternet access.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

Clerking patients within your speciality viatelephone assessment following a GP referral made to our Virtual Hospital.

Take a detailed patient history during clerkingcalls to support the Consultant to form a management plan for the patient.

Discuss risks and benefits of a surgicalprocedure or invasive test which has been recommended as a possibility by aConsultant, documenting the patients agreement in principle (please note allpatients will be formally consented as per normal at a later stage).

Role Overview / Scope of work:

The contractor role of Registrar is responsible for virtualclerking over the telephone to obtain more detailed information on a patientscondition, following their GP referral to Medefer. This is then reviewed by our Consultants tosupport their clinical decision making.

This role is on a contractor arrangement either on an individualself-employed basis or working via your own personal services company, enablingyou to work privately to supplement your NHS income and at the same time, bepartof a team working to support transformation in the NHS.

As a Registrar with Medefer, you will have the opportunityto be part of a new model of digital patient care, and able to work flexibly,for as many hours during the week as you wish (providing patient cases areavailable).

Experience, skills and competencies

Must have a valid GMC registration and a licence topractice.

Currently working within an NHS role and able to provide upto date documents in accordance with clinical compliance requirements.

Interested in digital health, clinical informatics and newways of working.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbaland written.

Excellent time management, planning and prioritising skills.

Excellent attention to detail, able to process detailedinformation effectively, consistently and accurately.

  • A Registrar with a minimum of 2 years substantive experience working in the NHS in ENT.
  • Registered with the GMC with an active licence to practice.
  • Have an interest in digital health, clinical informatics and in new ways of working.
  • Have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Possess excellent time management, planning, and prioritising skills.
  • Be detail oriented, able to process detailed information effectively, consistently, and accurately.
