Job description
Overview

The Cellular Pathology department is looking for a suitably experienced and qualified Biomedical Scientist to join the friendly, well established team in Lincoln.

Located at Lincoln County Hospital the department delivers a centralised Histopathology service for Lincolnshire's two NHS Trusts and their five main hospital sites, receiving in the region of 65,000 requests per annum. The laboratory provides an UKAS accredited service which includes Paraffin wax Histology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Morphological staining, Special Staining, Immunocytochemistry and Whole Slide Imaging. The directorate has also deployed molecular diagnostics.

The department has a reputation for service innovation and improvement, we are looking for a motivated individual to join us and support ongoing service developments. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to join one of the most established pathology networked services and be part of the development of the wider ME2 network.

The post holder will be required to participate in all aspects of the laboratory rota including Paraffin wax Histology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Morphological staining, Special Staining, Immunocytochemistry and Whole Slide Imaging and molecular diagnostics. The department operates from 08:00 to 17:30, the ability to work at other Path Links sites will be required on a occasional basis.

The directorate delivers a seven-day service to meet cancer turnaround times. The post holder will be required to support this on a rotational basis.
