Specialist Physiotherapist – Pelvic/Women’s Health

There is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, specialist physiotherapist with experience or a burning interest in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. A development post from band 5 to 6 would be considered for the right applicant.

The post will be based at Furness General Hospital or Westmorland General Hospital (to be agreed upon appointment), working closely with the Cross‑Bay team. The post holder will manage a caseload covering Obstetrics inpatients/outpatients, Gynaecology inpatients/outpatients and group work. This also includes in‑patient weekend working and on‑call.

The team works closely with the urogynaecology MDT, consultants, midwives and GPs. The post holder will support the development of Pelvic Health physiotherapy colleagues in the cross‑bay team.

The Cross‑Bay team includes 3 Advanced Physiotherapists and a team of Specialist Physiotherapy colleagues across the sites.

The trust is involved in PPHS NHS improvement programme and is currently an implementer site. An element of your role will include working within this project.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for sharing the clinical caseload of the Pelvic Health team, assisting the implementation of service development in line with current evidence and standards, and training physiotherapists, students and the wider MDT.

The role will include both in‑ and out‑patient activity with some group work.

Duties will include supporting the Advanced Physiotherapists in team development, audit, projects and service change.

The successful applicant will be an effective team player, have the ability to use initiative and communicate with empathy. They will embrace innovation and integrated working and be committed to following best practice to ensure patient‑centred care.

Previous experience is desirable.

You will be expected to be a member of the weekend working rota, also providing public holiday cover.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various consultant‑led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non‑life‑threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day‑case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Experience
