Qualifications

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 physiotherapist to work at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The post includes rotational periods in the Hyper‑Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) and at the two Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation Units at North Tyneside and Wansbeck. The successful candidate will work between North Tyneside General Hospital, Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital at Cramlington and Wansbeck General Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the seven‑day working and Bank Holiday rota for inpatient services.
  • Contribute to the respiratory service at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, including evening shadow on call rota and occasional nightshift commitment.
  • Deliver physiotherapy care across orthopaedics, elderly care, neurology (including stroke) and respiratory programmes.
  • Support a physiotherapy‑led NIV service where appropriate.
  • Maintain evidence of continued professional development and support multimodal patient care.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a physiotherapist in orthopaedics, elderly care, neurology (including stroke) and respiratory care.
  • Experience with NIV advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the multidisciplinary team and peers.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Valid driving licence and ability to use a car for work purposes (or Trust lease vehicle).
Additional Information

The Trust manages three major locality hospitals and a network of smaller community hospitals and clinics, offering a broad geographical scope. The role may involve non‑traditional working patterns as the Trust embraces full seven‑day working. The Trust will consider reasonable adjustments to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
