Overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our Mainstream Schools Speech and Language Therapy Team. This team is part of the wider Children's therapies team, a supportive and dynamic team with many professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake specialist paediatric assessment of children/students on own caseload, who may have complex presentations and from this assessment to formulate a treatment plan and carry out this treatment as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents/carers and other MDT members to support each pupil.
  • Supervise and support undergraduate students, and be involved in teaching MDT staff as well as those from other agencies.
  • Support the implementation of evidence-based projects, including making recommendations for change in practice and participating in departmental research and audit as appropriate.
  • Support the development and evaluation of service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with a diverse paediatric caseload 4–18 years old.
  • Experience of supporting the evaluation of service delivery in Mainstream Schools.
  • Experience in delivering universal and/or targeted level offers to schools.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑agency team.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary.
  • Enthusiasm, imagination, and initiative.
  • Understanding of the neurodiversity framework.
  • Supervision and support of junior speech and language therapists as well as speech and language therapy assistants.
