Job description
Specialist Paediatric Dietitian Band 6 (LOCUM)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of the Dietetics service at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust for Specialist Paediatric Dietitian. The CHS Dietetics provides service for acute, community, paediatrics and LD services. We are a friendly, forward‑thinking team of 14 dietitians and 2 dietetic assistants and admin support, committed to providing high quality, effective care. This post offers the ideal opportunity to be an integral part of a small team of paediatric dietitians. The post is based at Croydon University Hospital.

Personal qualities we value include initiative, flexibility, and the experience of embracing and working through change. We have a strong student training programme, and the paediatric dietitians provide much‑needed placement experience to our student dietitians. As a band 6 Dietitian you will undertake audits, contribute to service improvement, and review/develop nutrition and dietetic policies for paediatrics and those relevant to your role as identified by the clinical and operational lead for dietetics.

Dietetics has a strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development. We have CPD and supervision to support the needs of staff who are embarking on a higher band. So if you are an experienced band 5 looking to grow into a band 6 paediatric dietitian, or a band 6 looking for a new challenge and the support of a small, friendly team, please apply.

  • To be proactive and recognise the need for service development.

Organisational Context

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon. The Trust was formed on 1 August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. Around 4,100 staff deliver services for a population of over 360,000 people who are relatively young and ethnically diverse.

The main hospital site, Croydon University Hospital is one of the busiest in London. We also lead in providing more healthcare outside hospitals at clinics, specialist centres and in people’s homes. Our experienced district nursing teams, allied health professionals and community matrons look after people of all ages across Croydon, and our Children’s Hospital at Home cares for children with long‑term conditions without them having to come to hospital.

Across the NHS everyone is working hard to meet growing demand and we’re no exception. With the right people on board, we are rising to this challenge, putting our people in the driving seat, encouraging innovation and transforming our services to give local people the quality of care they deserve. Croydon Health Services places a great deal of importance on education and training throughout the careers of all staff, offering access to a range of core skills training and professional development.
