Job summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6) in Workington. You will provide evidence-based OT assessments and interventions for patients with complex needs, within a supportive multidisciplinary team and with a focus on recovery, wellbeing and independence.

The role requires HCPC registration, OT degree, and involvement in professional development.

Qualifications

• Recognised Occupational Therapy degree qualification.
• Registered with HCPC.
• Commitment to complete fieldwork education training.
• Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide OT services to service users with diverse needs.
• Manage ongoing assessment and intervention for service users.
• Involve carers and family in intervention planning where appropriate.
• Develop and deliver evidence-based OT interventions with service users.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Provide compassionate care focused on empathy, respect and dignity.
• Provide clinical supervision to staff as delegated by the Clinical Lead.
• Incorporate client-centred philosophy into practice.

North Cumbria memory and Later Life services - West is looking for highly motivated Occupational Therapists to compliment our Team for Maternity cover.

You will provide evidence based occupational focussed assessments and interventions to patients with complex needs with the ability to recognise and anticipate situations that may be detrimental to the Health and
Wellbeing of service users and their carers.

Main duties of the job

• To provide occupational therapy service to service users who have a variety of occupational therapy needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health conditions, cognitive and age related physical health needs.
• To manage and provide ongoing assessment and intervention for service users.
• To consider carer needs and ensure carer and family are involved in intervention planning where appropriate.
• To develop and deliver evidenced based Occupational Therapy interventions in collaboration with service users and carers where appropriate.
• The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.

• To incorporate a client centred philosophy into clinical practice and client centred collaborative care.

Person specification

Education and Qualification

• Recognised Occupational Therapy degree qualification
• Registered with HCPC
• Commitment to complete fieldwork education training.

Knowledge and Experience

• Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives
• Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of providing Occupational Therapy services.
• Awareness of equal opportunities legislation and policies
• Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
• Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required.
• Experience of supervising students / non registered staff
• Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
• Coordinating and supporting staff in the day to day provision of clinical services.
