This is a part time, permanent role, working 21 hours per week (three full days) (all day on a Monday and Wednesday and the third day to be discussed).

As well as teaching the weekly Music lessons and leading our Junior Choir, the Music Teacher will be responsible for taking the lead at our End of Term musical celebrations, our annual Concert and House singing competition and events throughout the year. We are keen to hear new ideas for the development of Music too!

If you are passionate about teaching and learning, have a love of music and singing and would like to join a friendly team who are dedicated to providing a stimulating environment in which children can reach their full potential, then this could be a position for you.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Have high expectations of both academic achievement and behaviour
  • Promote a love and enjoyment of Music
  • Be proactive in organising trips, events, competitions and enrichment opportunities
  • Be capable of delivering excellent lessons
  • Be a team player within a happy, hard-working staff
  • Be excited to lead our Junior Choir
  • Ensure ICT is effectively integrated into teaching

  • An excellent variety of music resources, including class sets of recorders, ocarinas, ukuleles and Drumba
  • Pupils who are polite, confident and keen to do their best
  • Small class sizes
  • Excellent opportunities for continuing professional development
  • Exceptional support from the SLT and colleagues
  • Supportive parents and staff who want the best for our children
  • Free lunches
  • A staff laptop

About the organisation

St Andrew's in Rochester, Kent, is a co-educational non-selective school for children from 3 to 11. It was founded in 1951 with clear and simple aims: to offer an affordable education with the emphasis on the ‘three Rs’ – reading, writing and arithmetic – and to promote traditional values.

Under the proprietorship of edt, which acquired the school in 1999, St. Andrew’s has flourished and has held dear its values – even though society may have changed around it. The school is renowned for its excellent pastoral care and its unfailing and outstanding success in placing pupils at prestigious grammar schools.
