We have an exciting opportunity for a dietitian to join our specialist Liver Dietetic Team for 12 months at 0.6 WTE, providing maternity cover. If you are interested in liver disease, nutrition support and developing specialist clinical skills, this could be a great opportunity to take the next step in your dietetic career. Our liver dietitians work with patients across the hepatology and liver transplant pathway, supporting people with complex nutritional needs before and after transplantation as well as those requiring specialist inpatient and outpatient dietetic care. Working alongside experienced specialist dietitians and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in the nutritional management of complex liver disease. The role will involve assessing and managing patients with a range of nutritional needs, including malnutrition, sarcopenia, nutrition support and complications associated with advanced liver disease. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, compassionate and keen to develop. You will need good clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Whether you already have experience within hepatology/gastroenterology or are looking for an opportunity to develop your specialist skills, we would be keen to hear from you. Previous experience in gastroenterology, liver disease or another relevant acute clinical speciality would be advantageous, although support and development will be available within the team. You will be fully supported by an experienced, collaborative liver dietetic team who are committed to developing your confidence and skills while delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
As a Specialist Dietitian, you will also contribute to service development, quality improvement and professional practice across the Dietetic Department and Hepatology Services. The team places high value on health, wellbeing and work‑life balance.
The post will be primarily based at St James’s University Hospital.
