Job summary

The John of Gaunt School in Bath seeks an enthusiastic teacher to join the Specialist Inclusion Base for cohorts in Years 7 to 9 with SEND, including autism. You will plan using EHCP outcomes to deliver a highly differentiated curriculum, promoting communication, independence and progression.

You will work with families, external professionals and Teaching Assistants to ensure every pupil receives tailored support, wellbeing and growth opportunities in a nurturing environment.

The working hours for this role are expected to be0.8 FTE. The start date for this role is01 January 2027.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate and dedicated teacher to join the Specialist Inclusion Base at The John of Gaunt School, supporting pupils in Years 7 to 9 with SEND, particularly communication and interaction needs, including autism. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, personalised learning through a highly differentiated curriculum that promotes academic achievement, communication skills, independence, and preparation for adulthood. Working within a small, nurturing environment, you will teach and support pupils across a range of subjects while helping them access appropriate mainstream inclusion opportunities. You will use EHCP outcomes to inform planning, monitor progress, and work closely with families and external professionals to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive. The role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering confidence, emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and social development in young people with additional needs. Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEND colleagues, and school leaders, you will contribute to the ongoing development of an inclusive and ambitious specialist provision.
