Job summary

Are you seeking a clinical leadership role in developing Paediatric dentistry within the Oxfordshire Community Dental Service (OCDS)?

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Clinical Director and be responsible for the provision of advanced clinical care to children with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health problems, medically compromised, severe anxiety or phobias and other disability or conditions that directly or indirectly affect their oral health. You will provide advanced care in line with complexity levels 1, 2 and 3a as detailed in the Commissioning Standards for Dental Specialities - Paediatric Dentistry. This includes sedation and general anaesthesia, domiciliary care, provision of oral health care to those in local secure settings, screening and epidemiology, and oral health promotion. You will assist the Clinical Director with day‑to‑day operational activities, take the lead on delivery of care to paediatric patients, travel to sites as required, and be involved in the development, line management, training and supervision of dentists.

  • Wide experience of CDS/HDS/GDS.
  • Experience in various methods of pain and anxiety management.
  • Experience as an educator, clinical and/or educational supervisor for trainees.
  • Experience providing treatment to children using intra‑venous sedation.
