An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic Specialist Grade doctor to join the Acute Medicine Department at University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be based at Queens Hospital, Burton.

Main duties of the job

There is full 24-hr middle grade cover within the Department whilst also being able to offer a proactive approach to further training, development and education, including a well‑equipped Centre for simulation‑based training and a very supportive educational faculty – our educational supervisors have rated highly in GMC surveys.

Job description – responsibilities
  • Provision of a service to Staffordshire, Derbyshire & surrounding areas with responsibility for diagnosis & treatment of patients at the hospitals & clinics at which you have duties.
  • Responsible for the continuing care & treatment of patients in your charge & personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to & training of your staff.
  • Provision of an out‑of‑hours service with colleagues including on‑call rota commitments.
  • Active participation in undergraduate & postgraduate education, including training sessions for Foundation Years, Specialty Registrars and medical students.

Person Specification – Clinical Experience – Essential
  • A minimum of 12 years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained either part time or through Less Than Full Time Training) since obtaining a primary medical qualification.
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in the Specialty Doctor/SAS Grade or equivalent in the Acute Medicine speciality or similar experience.

  • Clinical training & experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Acute (Internal) Medicine.
