Consultant Surgeon – Ear, Nose and Throat

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Surgeon in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery with the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. Applicants should be well trained in general ENT surgery and should have a developed sub‑speciality interest. Applicants who are not yet on the Specialist Register will be considered.

Location

St Mary's Hospital, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 5TG. Part‑time work at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust for collaboration.

Salary & Terms

£100,870 to £111,441 per annum, Permanent, Full‑time.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a consultant‑led ENT service with the highest standard of care.
  • Work with the multi‑professional team to develop care pathways, clinical guidelines and efficient service delivery.
  • Maintain good working practice across wards, outpatients and the ED department.
  • Provide on‑call coverage (1:4) and support at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust part of the week.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, other departments and primary care on the Isle of Wight and in Portsmouth.
  • Offer educational, clinical support and leadership to nursing colleagues and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ensure information is available to staff for measuring clinical performance, to establish and evaluate meaningful benchmarks.
  • Lead robust processes for reviewing the quality of services and maintain high standards.
  • Serve as a role model of professional leadership that underpins the Trust’s corporate values and behaviours.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Membership with the relevant Royal College.
  • GMC registration and licence to practice.
  • MRCs or FRCS (desirable).
  • 12 years post‑registration experience.
