Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.

Salary: c£58,000 (after qualifying period), plus car, plus allowances

Location:Home based (UK)

Car: Essential Car User

The opportunity

Zurich Engineering have a vacancy for a new role to support our Technical Services department. The role of Specialist Engineer (Pressure Systems) is primarily home-based and will provide an opportunity to further develop yourself and help shape the future of the Technical Services proposition.

This role would suit an existing pressure systems Engineer Surveyor or a suitably experienced engineer who prides them themselves on being organised with effective time management and prioritisation skills who has a working knowledge of the primary and secondary legislation associated with the role and the typical equipment that falls within scope of the discipline.

What are we looking for?

An Engineer who:

  • Is qualified to at least HNC (level 4) or degree level in a relevant engineering field (degree preferred).
  • Has experience with the engineering inspection industry.
  • Is registered with the Engineering Council at least EngTech level. Further development to I Eng will be expected, and completed within agreed timelines.
  • Can provide at least 2 years CPD record (minimum of 30 hours/year).
  • Has a sound understanding of the design, construction and operation of equipment, plant and standards associated with the discipline.
  • Has an understanding of the legislation and regulations associated with the discipline.
  • Has appreciation and knowledge of ISO 17020.
  • Can work remotely and within a team environment effectively.
  • Is organised and able to prioritise and manage their work.
  • Has a desire to develop their technical knowledge and understanding of equipment associated with the discipline.
  • Has a full valid UK driving licence and can travel to carry out their duties.
  • Can communicate technical and non-technical matters effectively to internal and external stakeholders by various means including technical documentation and presentations.

What will you be doing?

Following an initial training period, the successful candidate will be:

  • Creating and updating technical procedures, processes and technical libraries.
  • Conducting and updating risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Progressing and managing technical projects associated with new and emerging technologies and practices.
  • Contributing to changes which improve Zurich’s business proposition whilst managing risk.
  • Providing field-based Engineer Surveyors with technical support to facilitate safe and effective inspections and thorough examinations.
  • Providing clients with technical expertise and building relationships.
  • Conducting technical audits.
  • Supporting internal and external accreditation activities
  • Conducting technical investigations.
  • Coaching and mentoring of trainee Engineers.
  • Supporting the technical development and CPD of Engineers through the creation and delivery of training material.
