Job description

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic colleague to join the Department of Anaesthesia as aSpecialist Doctoron apermanent contract.

This post is offered on afully flexible 10PA contract, designed to support both individual preferences and service requirements. We are committed to working collaboratively to ensure the role suits the right candidate while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Applicants should have a minimum ofsix years' experience in anaesthesiaand be confident working independently, including providing cover for elective theatre lists.

Main duties of the job

Please note this role is only suitable for independent practitioners capable of remote-site working.

The postholder will provide anaesthetic services for elective surgical lists across a range of specialties, working independently and flexibly within an annualised job plan. They will contribute to teaching and supervision of trainees and students, participate in departmental audit and governance, and engage in CPD and appraisal processes. The role includes supporting service development and working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure safe, efficient patient care. There is no on-call commitment, and the post may include cover at peripheral operating sites following induction.

Person Specification

Academia Teaching skill & experience

• oCommitment to medical education
• Ability to teach in clinical settings

Audit Management & IT

• oDemonstrate evidence of robust clinical audit practice and clinical governance

Clinical Experience

• oCore competencies and at least 6 years' experience in General Anaesthesia at SAS grade or equivalent
• oCore competencies in Obstetric Anaesthetics
• oCore Competencies in Intensive Care Medicine
• Three years in a recognised Anaesthesia specialty training programme
• Experience in paediatric anaesthesia

Clinical Knowledge

• oPractical skills commensurate with the above
• oALS Provider
• ATLS/ EPLS/ APLS Provider

Professional Qualifications

• oMBChB or equivalent
• oFull GMC Registration

• Primary FRCA or equivalent
