A leading children's hospital based in Greater London is seeking a qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join their flow cytometry section. The role involves tasks such as sample preparation, assay development, and training. Candidates must hold a BSc. in Biomedical Science and HCPC registration, with relevant experience in a clinical haematology laboratory. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the flow cytometry section of the Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (SIHMDS)/Haematology at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust.
The SIHMDS Haematology Flow Cytometry Lab specialises in the diagnosis and monitoring of paediatric haematological malignancies, platelet and red cell membrane disorders and solid tumour work specifically in relation to neuroblastoma. The laboratory also participates in multiple clinical trials including novel CAR‑T therapy for the treatment of acute B‑Cell, T‑Cell and myeloid leukaemia.
You will support the routine service. This will include sample preparation and acquisition using flow cytometry, assisting in assay development and validation, accurate data keeping, general laboratory housekeeping and maintenance of flow cytometers. The post holder will also have responsibilities in training and contribute to the departmental quality systems for accreditation with UKAS.
