Hertfordshire County Council in Hemel Hempstead is recruiting two Specialist Advisory Teachers in the Speech, Language, Communication and Autism specialism to advance SEND strategy and practice. You will provide expert advice to schools, support professionals, and deliver training to improve provision for children and young people aged 5–25.
The role requires a degree with QTS, at least five years of successful teaching, recent classroom experience in autism or SLCN, the ability to evaluate
Within the SEND Specialist Advice and Support services, there are 2 vacancies for Specialist Advisory Teachers in the Speech, Language, Communication and Autism specialism. A key function of the Specialist Advice and Support Service (SENDSAS) is to ensure that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people (5-25), with a range of SEND, is met in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and Children's Services strategic objectives. This is an exciting time to join the service ahead of the SEND reforms as HCC continues to strengthen inclusive practice through accessible expertise provided by the specialist advisory teacher service.
In this role you can become an active part of the development of the county autism and SLCN offer.
You’ll need to have the ability to drive and/or travel around Hertfordshire, either using your own mode of transport or a company car to travel to other locations.
English Fluency The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
