A local government authority is seeking a Special Projects Project Manager to enhance building safety across Hackney. This role involves delivering complex safety projects, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with building safety legislation. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction environments and risk management, along with qualifications such as PRINCE2 and CDM. This opportunity offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in a high-performing, resident-centred service.
Goodman Masson is partnering with Hackney Council to recruit a Special Projects Project Manager to support the delivery of the borough’s ambitious building safety agenda. This is a key role within the Resident Safety service, helping ensure homes across Hackney meet the highest standards of safety and comply with evolving statutory requirements, including the Building Safety Act 2022, the Fire Safety Act, and CDM Regulations 2015.
Working closely with the Head of Building Safety, you will lead on the delivery of complex safety‑driven projects arising from Building Safety Cases and related assessments. You will convert technical findings into clear client briefs, manage capital works, and ensure that all identified risks—fire, structural, or building fabric—are addressed efficiently, transparently, and in line with legal obligations and internal policies.
This role is highly collaborative. You will work with Building Safety Managers, safety advisors, residents, regulatory bodies, and construction partners to ensure safety measures are designed well, implemented effectively, and fully documented as part of the “Golden Thread.” You will play a central role in governance, presenting project updates, risk reports, and incident investigations, and contributing to key decision‑making forums.
We are seeking an organised, detail‑focused professional with strong knowledge of building safety legislation, construction environments, and risk management. You will bring experience delivering safety‑led projects or capital works, ideally within local government, housing, or social landlord settings. Essential or achievable qualifications include PRINCE2, CDM, fire safety management, and membership of IOSH, IFSM or a relevant construction body (RICS, CIOB, CABE, RIBA).
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a high‑performing, resident‑centred service. If you are committed to improving safety outcomes, confident managing complex projects, and aligned with Hackney’s values of inclusivity, ambition, and proactive problem‑solving, we would welcome your application.
