Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth, London

Position: Long-term (temporary) • SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We're looking for caring, enthusiastic individuals to support pupils with autism (ASD) and other special educational needs. As part of the team, you will:

  • Work closely with primary-aged pupils using individualised learning strategies.
  • Build trusting, positive relationships to help pupils thrive socially and academically.
  • Provide personal care support while maintaining dignity and independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to create inclusive learning experiences.
  • Support classroom routines and use specialised equipment where required.
  • Observe, record and report on pupil progress to inform personalised learning plans.
  • Help manage behaviour and promote positive engagement throughout the day.
Contract & Benefits

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism or other additional needs.
  • Background working in primary education (preferred).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive, patient and resilient attitude.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care when required.
  • Team Teach training (or willingness to complete).
  • Familiarity with Makaton or positive behaviour approaches (training available).
Salary & Location

Salary: £90 - £120 per day + PAYE, Referral Bonus • Location: Wandsworth, London • SEN school • Long-term (temporary)
