Salary: £31,650 – £49,084 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent

Are you a dedicated, compassionate, and motivated Teacher eager to transform the lives of children with additional learning needs? GSL Education are seeking a committed Special Education Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive school community in Portland from January 2026 on a permanent basis.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalised education to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Working closely with SENCOs, support staff, and external professionals, you will ensure every learner receives tailored support to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. This opportunity is ideal for an educator who is passionate about inclusive practice and pupil-centred teaching.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess inclusive and engaging lessons tailored to pupils with special educational needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and encourage continuous progress.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, maintaining accurate academic and pastoral documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external agencies to support learners.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience working with pupils with special educational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND codes of practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Patient, flexible, and empathetic approach to teaching.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
