Job summary

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with two years of college or an associate’s degree, or a passing ETS Parapro Exam score.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or two years of higher education with 48 credits.
• Associate degree or higher acceptable per requirements.
• Minimum score of 450 on the ETS Parapro Exam.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory and maintenance of classroom equipment.
• Assist teachers in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, transfers, lifting, or positioning as trained.
• Help with student personal care and hygiene; including catheterization after training.
• Help manage student behavior, including crisis intervention and restraining disruptive behavior as needed.
• Work with students to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground.
• Keep teachers informed of student needs and problems.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety policies.
